Inspiring!

Today was the first day all week that I was able to bike to work, as I had left my bike at the old place thinking that I would be there on the weekend cleaning (ha). Oh, how I missed it these past few days! Having to shell out $5 every day to get to work and back was not the highlight of my week (disclaimer: in non-biking season, I will gladly take transit). I am looking forward to speeding down the hill home today, but found this post on Apartment Therapy and thought it was so inspiring! A couple + friends moved virtually their entire apartment by bike and trailer! Hmm, that would've save me some money this past weekend...

Baguette!

This post on The Kitchn (the food side of Apartment Therapy) reminded me to share with you my current source for excellent baguette in Kensington: Red Tree Catering. If you've been buying baguette from Safeway or even Co-op (sorry Calgary Co-op - I love you, but your baguette sucks), you will be pleasantly surprised!

Saturday evening...

So I've spent most of yesterday and today unpacking, and I have everything set up except for my bedroom - yea! Such a great feeling, and can I say how much I love my new place!! However, while I was unpacking this evening, I smelled smoke and looked out my front window to see plumes of smoke coming from a couple of blocks away. Turns out a house on Memorial Drive was on fire!! I have never ever seen a fire this close before; you could see the flames shooting out of the top of the house, and the firemen were dousing it and the apartment block next to it with water so that it wouldn't catch fire. There were many people gathered around; it was mesmerizing... Many kudos to the amazing firemen who managed to control the fire.
